There’s a lot of buzz about energy efficiency in Alberta these days, and it’s no wonder. After all, energy efficiency is a win-win proposition: you reduce your energy use and greenhouse gas emissions and save money on your energy bills at the same time.
Energy efficiency has long been an overlooked resource in Alberta, but that’s changing. Thanks, in part, to Energy Efficiency Alberta’s suite of new programs, Albertans are discovering how energy efficiency can make their lives more affordable and their homes more comfortable. These programs also support Alberta businesses and jobs in this fast-growing industry, as well as in construction and renewable energy.
The Residential Retail Products Program offers three rebates, each of which is intended to ensure that every Albertan has the chance to incorporate energy efficiency into their daily lives – and a choice in how they do it.
- Instant rebates are available at hundreds of retailers across the province on a wide range of energy-efficiency products, such as programmable thermostats, low-flow showerheads and smart power bars. You’ll receive up to $30 per item on eligible products at the till as you check out. These rebates are available until June 11, and another six-week rebate period will be offered in the fall.
- Online rebates are just a few clicks away. This year-round program offers rebates of up to $100 on high-efficiency refrigerators and clothes washers and smart thermostats. All you need to do is upload a picture of your receipt for eligible products purchased after April 28, 2017 and fill out a simple form. You’ll receive your rebate cheque in the mail four to six weeks later.
- Home improvement rebates of up to $3,500 per product are also available if you choose to upgrade your insulation or windows or install a tankless water heater with the help of your local contractor.
Whether you save money in store, online, with the help of a contractor or all of the above, the choice is yours. We hope you’ll join over 1.3 million Albertans who have visited Energy Efficiency Alberta website to learn more and find out what works for you.
